A beautiful seaside plant with soft, downy leaves, giving your garden a silvery appearance that sticks out wonderfully. Very similar to the dusty miller commonly found at nurseries, this plant prefers coastal areas and has more compact leaves.

If you are familiar with the common dusty miller found at garden centers, then you'll know how to care for this plant!

Instructions

To start indoors, prepare seed-starting trays with regular potting mix, lightly scatter seeds in each cell, and keep moist in a warm, fully lit area to sprout.

Once your plants sprout in approximately 1 week, allow them to grow 1-2 sets of true leaves, then harden off outside and transplant into the garden. If you scatter seeds outside, keep the area well moistened until they sprout.

To preserve the foliar appearance of this plant, cut off flower spikes as they appear.

To collect seed, let the inconspicuous flowers bloom until they appear brown, then harvest in late fall to ensure seed maturity. Pull the brown 'puffs' from the buds, and leave to dry on a flat surface, and store when fully dry. Plant material can be difficult to separate from seed, so store the entire contents pulled from the flower buds.
